Codex that keeps working after you log off.
The official OpenAI Codex CLI on a private cloud VM with your own ChatGPT sign-in. Always on. Free tier is live.
Deploy CodexCodex is OpenAI's coding agent. On your machine it works while the terminal is open and stops when it isn't. Long tasks need a computer that stays on, and most people don't want to run one.
Hivra hosts the official Codex CLI on a private VM that never sleeps. Sign in with your own ChatGPT account after launch (Hivra never sees or stores your credentials), then hand it real work: a repo to inspect, a change to implement, a failing build to debug.
It launches on the Free plan at $0. Add the optional live browser and more compute on Pro at $9.99 a month. Codex usage bills through your own ChatGPT plan, not through Hivra.
- Official OpenAI Codex CLI, unmodified. Sign in with ChatGPT.
- Optional live self-hosted browser for research and logged-in sites.
- Web terminal, files, and skills, reachable from any device.
How it works
- 1Pick Codex on the get-started page. Name the box and choose resources. The Free plan launches it with the browser off.
- 2Hivra provisions a private VM. Your box comes up in a few minutes. The official CLI is already installed.
- 3Sign in with your ChatGPT account. The sign-in happens inside the box. Hivra never sees or stores your OpenAI credentials.
- 4Give it work and walk away. Start a task from chat or the terminal. It keeps running while you're offline.
Self-hosted vs managed, honestly
- DIY: a VPS, the CLI install, a tmux session you keep alive, and updates you apply by hand.
- Hivra provisions the box in a few minutes and keeps Codex running around the clock.
- You get chat, a web terminal, files, and an optional live browser instead of a bare shell.
- Same official CLI and the same ChatGPT billing either way. You're paying Hivra to skip the ops.
What does it cost to run Codex in the cloud?
It launches on the Free plan at $0 (0.5 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, browser off). Pro is $9.99 a month with 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, and up to 3 agents. Codex usage bills through your own ChatGPT account.
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No. You sign in with your own ChatGPT account inside the box after launch. Hivra never sees or stores your OpenAI credentials.
What happens when I close my laptop?
Nothing stops. Codex runs on a managed cloud VM, not your machine. Start a task, log off, and pick up the result later from any device.
Can Codex browse the web on Hivra?
Yes. The box ships the same live browser stack as our Claude Code boxes. Turn it on for web research or logged-in sites; it adds 1 vCPU and 2 GB RAM of compute, so pair it with the Pro plan.
Is this a modified version of Codex?
No. It's the official CLI from OpenAI, running unmodified on a private VM. Hivra is an independent hosting service and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.
How fast can I deploy?
The VM comes up in a few minutes. From signup to a signed-in agent is usually about 5 minutes.
